Discover the Passion, Heritage, and Artistry of Flamenco at Rosal Ortega Flamenco

Flamenco is more than a dance. It is a living tradition—a powerful expression of culture, music, movement and emotion passed down through generations.

In Santa Barbara, flamenco holds a special place in the community's artistic heritage.  At Rosal Ortega Flamenco, you have the opportunity to connect with this remarkable legacy, learn the art of flamenco and become part of its continuing story.

Your journey into flamenco begins here.

Rosal Ortega’s grandfather, Juan Cota, participated in Santa Barbara’s first Old Spanish Days Fiesta in 1924. His dancing helped establish a family legacy rooted in Santa Barbara’s rich Spanish dance and Fiesta traditions.

Irene Rosita Cota Tuttle (Rosal's mom) began dancing with her father, Juan Cota, at just six years old. She carried forward the family’s love of dance, passing its traditions to the next generation.

Beverly (Diana) Tuttle — Spirit of Fiesta, 1963

A proud representative of the Cota family’s Fiesta heritage, Beverly went on to become a professional flamenco dancer in Spain, performing there for many years. Her sister Tricia also pursued a professional career, touring internationally for a year with José Greco’s company.

Flamenco carries its history through the people who practice it, teach it, and share it with others.

Rosal Ortega brings her own heritage and connection to flamenco to the teaching experience, creating an opportunity for students to explore the art form beyond its physical movements.

Through learning flamenco, students can develop an understanding of its rhythms, musicality, expressive gestures, and cultural significance.

The result is an experience that goes beyond learning choreography. It is an invitation to connect with an enduring art form and discover what flamenco can mean to you.

At Rosal Ortega Flamenco, you can begin building your own relationship with flamenco while contributing to the tradition's continuing presence in Santa Barbara.

Classes are available in Santa Barbara and Ventura.
